It was a record weekend in Western New York

This weekend will go down in the record books here in Western New York.

If you thought it rained a lot on Saturday, you would be 100% right. In fact, we had a lot of rain on June 29, which helped set a new record in Buffalo.

According to the National Weather Service, the Buffalo airport, where all weather records are recorded in western New York, received 1.66 inches of rain. That nearly doubled the old record of 0.084 set in 1897.

The good news is that despite all this rain and extreme weather, no major damage or flooding has been reported in Western New York.

As of this writing, there are no flooding issues along Western New York’s waterways.

The weather should be much better in the 716 heading into the July 4th holiday. We expect a mix of sun and clouds with a high near 72 for Monday.

Tuesday will be a little warmer with a high near 80 and generally sunny skies for the region.

Wednesday looks like another decent day with a high near 87 and a mix of sun and clouds.

For the 4th of July, it’s another warm day with a high near 82 and a mix of sun and clouds. It looks like it will be a great night to watch fireworks in Western New York.
