Rising White Sox superstar expected to be traded to Braves, which makes sense

The 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline is a month away.

That will happen on July 30th and the Atlanta Braves should be busy. Atlanta has a few holes to fill in the lineup due to injuries, but it is still loaded with talent and should be able to make a deep playoff run. Only a successful trade deadline would help with that.

There will be plenty of players who could help the Braves, with the starting rotation being a position that needs strengthening. One player the Braves should consider trading is Chicago White Sox young star Garrett Crochet.

So far, he has been the subject of trade deadline rumors and it seems like a real possibility that he will be traded. Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports even said that the White Sox “intend” to trade him.

“The Chicago White Sox have quietly engaged in brief contract extension negotiations with ace Garrett Crochet, but with no optimism that a deal will be reached, the White Sox intend to trade him by the July 30 trade deadline,” Nightengale said. “The White Sox have received calls from 15 teams expressing interest in Crochet, who makes just $800,000 and is under team control through 2026. The X-factor for suitors will be how much Crochet can help them down the stretch and into October.”

He appears to be available and the Braves should be willing to make a deal. He’s just 25 and has a 3.05 ERA and a league-high 130 strikeouts. He could hit the innings limit late this season, but that’s a bridge to cross at another time. Atlanta needs pitching help and Crochet could provide it for years to come.
