Man arrested in Warrington after woman dragged and sexually assaulted by stranger in Edgware garden

Police made an arrest after a man attacked a woman and dragged her into a garden in Edgware, north London.

Officers arrived at the scene in Manor Park Gardens at around 10.30pm on Thursday after a passerby reported seeing a partially clothed woman and a man running away.

The woman, in her twenties, was walking down the street when a man who had been hiding jumped out, dragged her into the garden and then sexually assaulted her.

The man was unknown to the woman.

The Met said a suspect, a man in his twenties, was arrested in Warrington, Cheshire, on Saturday.

“He was taken to London and remains in custody,” it said in a statement.

“The victim continues to be cared for by specialist officers.”

Detective Inspector Richard Lewsley said: “I recognise that this is a shocking and deeply disturbing incident.

“I would like to reassure the local community that we are treating this as a top priority and my officers are working tirelessly to arrest the suspect.”
