Body found in pond in Maple Grove, authorities investigating

An investigation is ongoing after a body was found in a retention pond in Maple Grove on Saturday afternoon.

A Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol spokesman said officers were called to the Elm Creek rest area around 3:35 p.m. because a maintenance worker found a body in the water.

Hennepin County officials confirmed that the body of an adult was found in a catch basin in the area. The gender of the person was not immediately provided.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery. The cause of death will be released at a later date by the Hennepin County Coroner.
