Judge dismisses sexual assault lawsuit against Dak Prescott

A judge in Collin County, Texas, dismissed a civil sexual assault lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on Wednesday.

A woman accused Prescott of sexually harassing her in 2017 and allegedly demanded $100 million from the Pro Bowl quarterback, saying she would go to the police if he didn’t pay.

The lawsuit was filed last month in Collin County after a similar lawsuit was dropped in Dallas County.

“The original lies by (the plaintiff), her team and their recent failed attempt to sue him civilly are all just a continuation of their blackmail scheme against Dak,” Prescott’s attorney Levi G. McCathern said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. “These ploys distract from the trauma of legitimate victims of sexual violence and undermine the progress our society has made in supporting these victims.”

After dismissing the civil suit, Judge Angela Tucker scheduled a hearing for September 13 to decide whether legal action should be taken against the plaintiff.

Prescott, for his part, filed a civil lawsuit accusing the woman of attempting to extort him after she went to Dallas police with her complaint. In May, Dallas police closed their investigation into Prescott, citing a lack of evidence.

Prescott’s lawsuit says the woman – identified in court records as Victoria Baileigh Shores – and her attorneys Bethel T. Zehaie and Yoel T. Zehaie wrote a letter demanding payment and saying he had until Feb. 16 to respond.

Prescott led the NFL in touchdown passes in 2023 and finished second in MVP voting. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times and is in the final season of a four-year, $160 million contract. Prescott also won the 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.
