Flack Broadcasting – Police are investigating an ATV accident involving personal injury near Boonville in the early hours of Saturday morning

BOONVILLE- Two local teens received citations for not wearing helmets following an overnight off-road vehicle crash in northern Oneida County.

According to sheriff’s office investigators, it happened just before 2:00 a.m. on Moose River Road in the town of Boonville.

Authorities found two 16-year-old males riding off-road vehicles at dangerous speeds and behaving recklessly.

The teenager, who was driving the Polaris Sportsman 570, hit an embankment, lost control and overturned the ATV.

The driver was thrown from the ATV and both remained lying on the side of the road.

The teenager was taken to Wynn Hospital with numerous, non-life-threatening injuries to the head, chest and pelvis.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Boonville Fire Department and Boonville EMS.

Both drivers received tickets for riding without a helmet.
