Phagwara police arrest UP resident for raping minor girl

PHAGWARA: Phagwara police managed to arrest a rapist named Sunny Kumar from Saprra village in Uttar Pardesh on suspicion of raping a minor girl in Parmar Nagar village in Phagwara on June 6.

Sadar Police Station House Officer (SHO) Phagwara Balwinder Singh Bhullar said his brother-in-law Toofan Paul, who helped the rapist escape, has already been arrested under sections 376AB, 377 and 212 of the IPC and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

SHO Bhullar said that the rapist, who was found to be a minor, was also produced before the juvenile court and sent to a special home on the court’s orders.
