At least one dead after crash on Preston Highway near Louisville airport | News from WDRB

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WDRB) — At least one person was killed in a two-car crash near the Louisville airport Wednesday night.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers were called to the 5600 block of Preston Highway at 10:30 p.m. for a reported accident. That’s on East Indian Trail, not far from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

Ellis said a man was riding a motorcycle south on Preston Highway when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with another vehicle traveling north. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.

Firefighters and rescue services were dispatched and the car fire was quickly extinguished.

Ellis said the man on the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, also a man, was taken to UofL Hospital with injuries that Ellis said were not life-threatening.

The LMPD traffic unit is investigating. Preston Highway near East Indian Trail is expected to be closed for at least three hours.
