Man dies when truck crashes into concrete pillar in Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – One person was killed Tuesday when his truck crashed into a concrete pillar in Somerset County.

State police said 81-year-old James Clark of Tire Hill was killed in a one-car crash at about 9:10 p.m. on June 18 while traveling north on North Center Ave. (SR601).


Police said Clark, who was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, left the road and struck a concrete pillar, then flew about 700 feet through a residential yard, through a fence and across several commercial parking lots before coming to a stop at a building.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Somerset Fire Department, Somerset EMS, Hearns High Performance Towing and the Somerset County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene.
