Man arrested for animal cruelty and cockfighting in Shawnee County

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A man is in custody on charges of animal cruelty and cockfighting in Shawnee County.

This incident occurred after officers from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in the 9800 block of Croco Road on Saturday, June 15, for reports of several unknown people and vehicles on the property.

According to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, when officers arrived, they found illegal paraphernalia associated with cockfighting. Eight roosters were subsequently rescued.

Clinton E. Dick, 66, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Correctional Facility on the following charges:

  • Severe animal cruelty
  • Illegal conduct related to cockfighting
  • Illegal possession of cockfighting equipment

The Kansas Highway Patrol also assisted in the investigation. The incident is still under investigation.
