Former Wallkill firefighter sentenced to prison for arson in 2021

A former Wallkill firefighter was sentenced to prison Friday for arson in 2021.

Robert Cromie, 56, faces up to five years behind bars after being convicted of third-degree arson.

It all goes back to an incident on December 7, 2021, in which Cromie, according to prosecutors, intentionally set a fire in a garage adjacent to his apartment.

The fire spread throughout the entire apartment.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Cromie was a member of the Wallkill Fire Department at the time of the crime.
