Official suspended over sheep distribution scandal worth Rs 700 crore

Hyderabad: Dr. Sabavath Ramchander, former Managing Director of Telangana Sheep and Goat Development Co-operative Federation Limited, has been suspended for his alleged role in the sheep trade scam worth Rs 700 crore.

The suspension would remain in effect until all charges against him were dismissed, the government order said. The order said he would not be allowed to leave the headquarters without permission during the suspension.

The ACB had arrested Ramchander, chairman of the Telangana Live Stock Development Agency, in connection with the sheep scam on May 31. They also arrested G. Kalyan Kumar, a special assistant to former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

Ramchander is expected to remain in judicial custody till June 14 while the ACB looks for clues and questions the accused in the scam.
