As the summer months approach, it’s important to remember that our commitment to fighting sexual violence must not wane with the end of April—Sexual Violence Awareness Month. While a dedicated month provides a targeted opportunity for education, awareness, and activism, the fight against sexual violence requires ongoing attention and action year-round. The recent news of the overturning of Harvey Weinstein’s conviction, along with countless other stories across the country, remind us every day that even in the post-#MeToo era, we as a society are still grappling with the realities and consequences of living in a world where sexual violence is shockingly common, yet taboo.

As co-founder of the nonprofit organization I Have The Right To along with my wife and daughter, our family’s experiences testify to the importance of raising awareness and creating honest dialogue about sexual assault. We are dedicated to shining a bright light on the scourge of sexual violence.
