Man dead, teenager injured after UTV crash near Walton

ROANE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A Charleston man died in a UTV crash near Walton on Saturday and his 17-year-old passenger was hospitalized.

According to a West Virginia State Police press release, the UTV crash was reported on Walker Ridge Road at approximately 1:26 a.m. Polaris UTV driver Jacob Beckner, 27, of Charleston, died from injuries sustained in the crash. A 17-year-old passenger was transported by Roane EMS and subsequently flown to the hospital for further treatment.

The UTV was traveling east on Walker Ridge Road when it left the south curb and struck a tree on its side, the release said.

The investigation is ongoing.
