Two minor girls raped on their way home from school picnic in JKs Udhampur

Jammu, June 8: Two minor girls were allegedly raped by two men in a forest area in Udhampur (Jammu), police said on Saturday.

The two accused were identified by the police as Dalip Kumar and Ravinder Kumar. Police said both the men were residents of Panchound.

The girls, aged 16 and 17, were on their way home from a school picnic when they were stopped by the defendants and raped in a forest on Friday evening, a police spokesman said.

The girls lay unconscious in the forest all night and were rescued by police on Saturday morning after receiving information, reported “The Week”.

The girls were then taken to a hospital in Ramnagar for treatment while a case was registered at the local police station under the relevant provisions of the law, an official said.

He said the accused fled after committing the crime but was arrested by special police units. Investigations have also been launched in this matter, a police spokesman said.
