Bristol raises concerns over headmaster’s investigation

BRISTOL, Connecticut (WTNH) – On Wednesday evening, citizens used the public comment section of a Bristol Public Schools meeting to voice their concerns about an ongoing investigation into the school’s top administrator.

The principal of Ivy Drive School was placed on leave last month after the district was made aware of alleged irregularities in state testing. An internal investigation into the allegation is ongoing.

Some parents and a student told school officials on Wednesday that they support the principal.

“I realized I’m two grade levels behind in reading and that’s why I’m struggling with math,” said Wyatt Deconti, a student who credits his success to the principal. “At the end of last year, I passed the special services exam and am on the honor roll. In the fall, I’ll start my freshman year of AP History.”

Others asked the board for answers, stating that the principal does not have an exam supervisor and therefore does not supervise the exams.

The board did not comment on the investigation.
