Best Buffalo Bills Players of All Time: The 100-76 List

Buffalo Bills writer Sal Maiorana created his first list of the team’s top 100 players of all time in 2019. In the seasons since, several players have done enough to make the list.

So it’s time for a refresh.

To start, here are the final 25 players in the top 100, those he ranked from No. 100 to No. 76. One of the players who was pushed out of his original top 100 was the man he had placed in the 100th. spot five years ago; quarterback Doug Flutie.

New players on the roster include cornerback Taron Johnson and center Mitch Morse in this grouping.

100. Eugene Marvé

Position:KG. Years: 1982-87.

Achievements: Started 74 of 76 games he played for the Bills. … Led the Bills in tackles three times and finished second twice. … Made 21 tackles in a 1983 game against the Patriots.

99. Paul Maguire

Position: P/LB. Years: 1964-70

Achievements: AFL All-Star in 1965. … Ranks third in team history with 552 punts, including 100 in 1968, which was the team record until Chris Mohr had 101 in 1996. …Tied for the team record for punts in a game with 11 of which he did it twice. … His career gross punt average of 42.1 yards is fifth best.

98. Derrick Burroughs

Position:CB. Years: 1985-89

Achievements: No. 14 pick in the 1985 draft. … He was poised to become a mainstay on future Super Bowl teams before his career was cut short by a neck injury. …Had six interceptions in 58 career games.

97. Roscoe Parish

Position:WR. Years: 2005-11

Achievements: All-time leader in punt returns (135) and punt return yards (1,622). … His three touchdowns are tied for first. … Led the NFL in 2007 and 2008 in yards per punt return average. …Also caught 134 passes for 1,502 yards and 7 touchdowns.

96. Mark Pike

Achievements: Played 11 of his 12 NFL seasons with Bills, starting 137 of 158 games.

93. Ryan Fitzpatrick

Position:QB. Years: 2009-12

Achievements: Ranks fifth in passing yards with 11,654 in just four seasons and 55 games with the Bills. … Is fourth in TD passes (80) and completions (1,041). … His 3,832 yards in 2011 was the seventh-best season in team history. …Threw the longest TD pass in Bills history, 98 yards to Terrell Owens in 2009, since matched by Josh Allen and Gabe Davis in 2022.

Achievements: Was the second overall pick in the 1972 draft by the Bengals and had 25 sacks in 52 games. … He then came to the Bills in 1976 to replace Walt Patulski, the player Buffalo selected first overall in that draft. …. Had 37 sacks in 106 games for the Bills’ ninth-most sacks in team history. …Also had two interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
