Local woman seeks justice after alleged sexual assault in Circleville

Circleville, Ohio – A local woman expresses her frustration and dismay that a man who allegedly sexually assaulted her was not immediately arrested.

The incident involved a caregiver, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, who reported being sexually harassed while working in a private home caring for an elderly client. According to her, the caregiver was folding laundry in the client’s bedroom when George Schneider, a man who was present in the home, approached her from his office. She claims Schneider put his hand under her shirt and inside her bra and groped her. Despite her efforts to remove his hand, he persisted and put his hand back inside her shirt. When she tried to leave, Schneider allegedly stopped her, demanded to see her shirtless, and raised his voice when she refused.

After the incident, the helper immediately left the apartment and contacted Circleville Police.

Schneider was subsequently questioned by police and on May 28, 2024, he was charged with sexual assault. His arraignment is scheduled for June 11, 2024.

Despite the charges, the woman is still concerned that Schneider was not arrested. Police told her that they decided not to take Schneider into custody because of his advanced age. She is now seeking a restraining order to ensure her safety.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about how allegations of sexual misconduct are handled, particularly when older suspects are involved. The assistant continues to advocate for her own justice and safety measures.
