Fire on Transit Road causes $100,000 in damage

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire on Transit Road in Swormville Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a barn, according to the Amherst Central Fire Bureau.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on May 30, a fire was reported at a barn at 6995 Transit Road that housed several businesses. The Swormville Fire Chief arrived and reported heavy smoke coming from the building.

The fire broke out in part of the building being renovated. It took approximately 45 minutes to bring the situation under control and damage to the structure was estimated at $100,000.

The investigation is looking into the causes of the fire.
