Israel’s war on Gaza live: Tent cities attacked as tanks roll into Rafah | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

More urgent calls for an end to Israel’s Rafah offensive are coming from diplomats, UN officials and humanitarian workers.

And now a UN Security Council resolution is being prepared that will make corresponding demands and will be distributed among the Council members.

Algeria is currently working on a text. The country’s ambassador did not provide further details but said he hoped to put the text to a vote as soon as possible.

France and more than 20 humanitarian organizations, including Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders, have expressed their support for such a resolution.

They warn that the humanitarian situation is on the verge of collapse.

A regular meeting (of the UN Security Council) on the situation in the Middle East will take place on Wednesday. However, it is not clear whether the Council members will yet find enough support to adopt this resolution.
