Houston County school district to offer summer meal program FR24 News English

MACON, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) – The Houston County School Nutrition Program will provide free meals to children 18 and under.

Meredith Potter, a dietitian with the Houston County School Board, says children do not need to be enrolled in the Houston County school district to receive the free meals.

There are three ways for families to participate in the summer meal program. There will be daily meals, mobile routes and meal pack options.

Daily meals:

Daily meals will be offered Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Northside High (926 Green Street in Warner Robins)
  • Perry High (1307 North Avenue in Perry)
  • Huntington Middle (206 Wellborn Road in Warner Robins)

Daily meals will begin on May 28 and end on July 19.

Mobile routes:

The meals will be distributed by vans traveling seven regular routes through neighborhoods in Houston County that cannot access one of the school sites. For the most current route information, call the School Nutrition Office at (478) 322-3308.

Multi-day meal packs:

Multi-day meal packs will be offered at three locations. Meals will be served every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Bonaire Middle (Highway 125 96 East in Bonaire)
  • Northside Elementary School (305 Sullivan Road in Warner Robins)
  • Langston Road Elementary School (325 Langston Road in Perry)

Multi-day meal packs will begin on May 30 and end on July 18.
