A resident of Gaza is accused of sexually harassing a medical intern of Israeli origin. The incident occurred in Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, local media reported, while the Palestinian was being examined. The unidentified suspect was brought to Israel’s Ashkelon for treatment following a tense situation in the Gaza Strip. He allegedly attacked the doctor a few days after he was treated and underwent a surgical procedure, sparking a debate about providing treatment to all ethnicities.

A report in the Jerusalem Post confirmed that the Palestinian man stroked her hair and face, according to the resident. The medical professional reported the incident to local authorities. She reportedly had to flee the room where the incident occurred during the medical examination. The resident, whose age was not disclosed, also informed the newspaper that she reported the alleged attack to hospital staff. The other members of the medical facility intervened by calling in security officials, according to the report.

In addition, the patient from Gaza was arrested by police in Ashkelon. In response to demonstrations outside Israeli hospitals against medical care provided by Hamas militias, the Israel Medical Association wrote a letter to the country’s hospital directors in April.
