Eight dead in two road accidents in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati, May 27: Eight people were killed in two separate accidents in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, police said.

In Tirupati district, a car overturned after hitting a road barrier, killing four people and injuring two others.

The accident occurred early Monday morning on the Puthalapattu-Naidupeta highway near M. Kongaravaripalli in Chandragiri mandal.

The car was on its way from Nellore to Vellore. The deceased are identified as Seshaiah, his wife Jayanti, their relative Padmamma and the driver of the car Sameer. They were all residents of Nellore district.

In another accident in Krishna district, four people died and another was injured. According to police, a car hit the crash barrier and rammed an oncoming truck. The accident occurred in Bapulapadu mandal on the Chennai-Kolkata national highway.

The car was travelling from Kovuru towards Tamil Nadu. The dead have been identified as Swaminathan (35), Gopi (31), Radha Priya (14) and Rakesh (12). The injured man has been admitted to the Vijayawada government hospital.

In another accident in Tirupati district, two people escaped with minor injuries when their car caught fire after it overturned on impact with the divider. The car caught fire after rolling over to the other side of the road. Both occupants managed to get out before the entire vehicle burst into flames. They sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
