Wet weather is forecast for the holiday weekend

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Saturday was the best weather of the weekend in North Central Wisconsin with quite a bit of sun and pleasant temperatures. Sunday and Memorial Day will be a different story. The next weather forecaster calls for some rain and thunderstorms on Sunday. Monday will not be a washout, but there will be more clouds than sunny spells. Scattered showers in the afternoon and early evening. Better weather is on the way from mid to late next week, with some sun and highs to just above 20 degrees. The next threat of showers and thunderstorms is Friday night through next Saturday with a cold front.

Saturday evening will be mostly cloudy, with the possibility of isolated showers or a thunderstorm before midnight. Clouds will remain throughout the night, and lows on Sunday morning will be in the low 10s to high 12s.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy and a little cooler. Rain showers will move into Central Wisconsin during the morning, becoming persistent rain in much of the region during the midday and afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms are possible. Highs around 15 degrees. The showers will clear out Sunday evening, but will remain mostly cloudy Sunday night.

Memorial Day will be cloudy, but also some sunshine. There is a chance of scattered afternoon showers or a storm. Highs between 65 and 69 degrees. If you’re heading to the Wausau Woodchucks’ first home game on Monday, bring rain gear. It will also be windy. Tuesday will be cloudy again, with a chance of showers. Highs around 60 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday will see quite strong sunshine, with highs of between 18 and 21 degrees. The next weather maker could arrive later on Friday, with the risk of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs on Friday around 21 degrees. Next Saturday, mostly cloudy with a good chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs between 21 and 25 degrees.
