“Nation’s Top Eagle Scout” will ring “Taps” at Ft. Sam Houston

SAN ANTONIO – One of the nation’s most successful Eagle Scouts will perform “Taps” this Memorial Day at Ft. Sam Houston.

Ricardo Lazaro, an 11th grade student at Town East Christian School in San Antonio, will commemorate the lives and service of our nation’s veterans by performing “Taps” at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery.

Lazaro is a highly accomplished Eagle Scout, recently selected by the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution as the “Best Eagle Scout in the Nation.” He has won numerous awards from several organizations, celebrating his dedication to the Boy Scouts of America.

He is also an accomplished trumpeter, having performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the National Festival Symphony Orchestra, and is the recipient of both the Jeck Kent Cooke Young Artist Scholarship and the SE Shires Rising Artist Scholarship.

Lazaro will play “Taps” at 3 p.m., a time chosen by officials as the time when most Americans will spend free time celebrating Memorial Day weekend.

The National Moment of Remembrance asks Americans to take a moment at 3 p.m. to remember those who have sacrificed their lives in service to the United States.
