Georgia man dies in rollover crash in Willacy County

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal vehicle rollover crash Saturday, according to a news release from Texas DPS.

A DPS investigation revealed that at approximately 5:13 p.m., a white Ford F-550, with only the driver occupied, was traveling south on US 77 south of FM 3168 in Willacy County.

As it neared the end of the bridge’s concrete barriers, the Ford left the roadway and into an open field, where it rolled over before coming to a complete stop, DPS reported.

The driver, Antonio Perez Jr., 44, of Atlanta, Georgia, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected when the vehicle rolled over.

Perez died from his injuries at the scene of the accident.

DPS troopers continue to investigate this fatal accident and suspect alcohol was a contributing factor, according to the news release.
