Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined and suspended for violating the IPL code of conduct

KATHMANDU: In a recent development, Mr. Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, has been fined and suspended for one match for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Rajasthan Royals in Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 7, 2024.

The disciplinary action was taken as it was Delhi Capitals’ third offense this season involving violations of the IPL code of conduct minimum.

Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 Lac and suspended for one match for this violation.

Additionally, the other members of the playing eleven, including the Impact Player, were each fined INR 12 Lac or 50% of their respective match fees, whichever is less.

In response to this ruling, Delhi Capitals appealed the match referee’s decision under Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

However, the complaint was forwarded to the BCCI Ombudsman for consideration.

After conducting a virtual hearing, the Ombudsman confirmed that the match referee’s decision remains final and binding.

This incident highlights the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations laid down by the IPL to maintain the integrity and spirit of the game.
