Greater Bay Airlines is suspending flights from Hong Kong to Singapore for “commercial reasons”.

Greater Bay Airlines announced it will suspend flights from Hong Kong to Singapore from June 1, just two weeks after launching the service.

The Hong Kong-based airline said the suspension was due to “commercial reasons” after analyzing recent market conditions. South China morning post reported.

The airline said all affected passengers would be compensated with a free return ticket The Times of the Straits.

The service has been running since April 26, with one-way flights starting at HK$480 (US$61).

The airline was founded by Chinese real estate mogul Wong Cho Bau, who also owns Shenzhen-based Donghai Airlines, and began operations in 2022.

With a fleet of seven single-aisle Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the company operates flights from Hong Kong to Asian destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo.

For Singaporeans, Hong Kong is known as a food and shopping paradise.
