4 shootings leave 1 dead, 4 others injured

One man was killed and four others injured in four shootings in less than an hour on Sunday evening.

It all started shortly after 10 p.m. when a man was found shot to death in a garage on South Ogden Avenue.

When officers arrived, they saw the suspect driving away from the scene and pursued him until he got out and fled. Police looked inside the car and found a woman who had been shot. She is now stable, investigators said.

Officers eventually tracked down the suspect and arrested him. His identity was not released.

In addition, a 6-year-old girl was shot while traveling in a car near the Wedgewood Village Apartments. Police said someone shot at her parents’ car; neither of them was injured. It is not known who shot at their car or why.

“We still don’t know all the details, such as whether the vehicle was the shooter’s intended target,” said CPD spokesman Sergeant Joe Albert. “We don’t know that, and investigators need to determine whether this was just a random shooting or if there was a target and the vehicle just got in the way.”

Detectives are reviewing the apartment complex’s surveillance cameras, which were installed due to ongoing violence in the area.

The victims of the other two shootings late Sunday night did not suffer life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made in those cases, nor has any information about suspects been released.
