24-year-old man shot dead in South Shore

A man who was shot in South Shore on Friday night has died.

When officers arrived around 11:20 p.m., they found the 24-year-old man unconscious in the 7800 block of South Cornell Avenue, Chicago police said.

The man had gunshot wounds to the head and body. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead around 5 p.m. Saturday, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

No arrests were reported, but Area One detectives were investigating.
