Video shows angry turkey attacking Boston woman’s car – Boston 25 News

BOSTON — It’s a case of Angry Birds: A Boston woman says a turkey attacked her black convertible and the whole thing was caught on camera.

A viral video shows a wild turkey pecking at its reflection – not in a mirror, but on the side of Alicia Mastroianni’s car.

“Oh my God, it was so battered,” said Mastroinanni, who lives in the Brighton district, of her scratched Audi convertible.

Mastroinanni said she has lived near Cummings Street for nearly a year and has never had any encounters with wildlife in the neighborhood, but when she woke up early in the afternoon of July 15 before a night shift at Boston Children’s Hospital, she went to her car and found a note.

“I get in and start reading it and think, ‘Oh, I guess my car got attacked by a turkey,'” Mastroianni explained.

In disbelief, Mastroianni got out of her car to assess the damage, she said.

“The whole side of my car is scratched up to the 9 mark, really scratched,” Mastroianni explained. “I went to the other side and it was scratched. I think my jaw just hit the floor.”

Mastroianni said she then called her neighbor, who wrote the message and captured the attack on video.

“The running joke in my family right now is that I’ve lived in a kind of rural farm town in Maryland my whole life and we have all kinds of animals, like deer, foxes and every now and then a turkey or peacock,” Mastroinanni said. “I was preparing to move to this big city and I made a list of all the things I should be prepared for. I can honestly tell you that a turkey attacking my car was not on the list.”

Boston 25 interviewed Mastroianni via Zoom as she is currently at home in Maryland visiting family and getting her car repaired.

“After I got over the shock of the whole thing, I filed a claim online and sure enough, animal violence in a parked car was an option,” she said.

Mastroianni said she posted the video on social media, it went viral and was viewed millions of times, and now she can only laugh at her good fortune.

We believe it saw its reflection in the car and started attacking itself,” Mastroianni said.

She said that from now on she will take more precautions, such as buying a cover for her car or parking it at a friend’s house.
