Ukiah man found dead after jumping from Noyo Bridge in Fort Bragg – The Willits News

The body of a Ukiah man who was seen climbing over the railing of the Noyo Bridge in Fort Bragg was pulled from the water Thursday afternoon, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to MCSO, officers responded to Noyo Harbor shortly after 3 p.m. on July 25 to a report that U.S. Coast Guard personnel had recovered a man’s body from the water.

Fort Bragg Police Department officials then informed deputies that “witnesses observed the decedent climbing over the railing of the Noyo Bridge, (and that) FBPD officers collected the decedent’s wallet and cell phone from the bridge railing directly above where the decedent was found floating in the Noyo River.”

The man was identified only as a 59-year-old Ukiah resident, as his name will not be released “until his legal next of kin has been notified of his death.”

The MCSO adds that “during the coroner’s investigation, no suspicious items were found that would indicate a crime.”
