Mother suspected of attacking her five-month-old child arrested

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said the child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A mother suspected of attacking her five-month-old child has been arrested.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to reports of a baby sleeping and possibly dying at an apartment on East Mansfield Avenue, at the corner of North Argonne Road (12800 block of East Mansfield Avenue), Sunday evening.

SCSO said arriving officers saw first responders and paramedics giving CPR to the five-month-old child. SCSO said the child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.

SCSO said a deputy escorted the child’s mother, 22-year-old Amlyann Harry, out of the home. The sheriff’s office later found probable cause to charge her with first-degree child abuse.

Harry was booked into the Spokane County Jail on these charges.

SCSO said the investigation is currently ongoing and additional charges are possible. SCSO said Child Protective Services has also been notified.
