This teenager was sexually harassed after posting a photo of a pair of headphones

From Cosmopolitan

Victim blaming is all the rage in 2016 – but if you need a reminder that women are still harassed every day for doing absolutely nothing, this tweet from a 17-year-old girl from South Wales, UK is accurate the right thing for you.

As Cat Williams explained to BuzzFeed, she recently posted a photo of her new headphones on Snapchat, to which a stranger replied, “If you wore these and nothing else, that would be heaven.”

“I was amused that a photo that I thought was innocent and had no sexual connotations was still generating unwarranted comments,” she told BuzzFeed. “I (was) also upset because it seemed that as a young woman you really can’t escape casual sexual harassment online.”

Cat then decided to post the picture and response to Twitter, along with the sarcastic caption: “Guys wouldn’t send weird messages if you didn’t post such naughty photos.” The tweet quickly went viral, garnering over 36,000 to date Retweets and 62,000 favorites. She says the response so far has been “heartwarming.”

“I saw a lot of women say they had similar experiences, which made me realize how big the problem is,” she said.

Luckily, her tweet only helped raise awareness.
