Reward for identification of suspect who assaulted a KCKPD officer

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kansas City, Kansas, police announced Tuesday that a reward is being offered for information identifying the suspect in the attack on a police officer last week.

Police reported that an officer was assaulted outside the KCKPD East Patrol Station, 849 N. 47th St., around 10 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.

According to KCKPD, as the officer was getting out of his patrol car, a person approached without warning, pulled out a screwdriver and stabbed the officer.

After the attack, the man fled the scene into a wooded area near 47th and State Avenue.

The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment and was released the next day.

The KCKPD described the suspect as a dark-skinned, thin man in his 30s, approximately 5’8″ tall.

According to police, the man also has a full beard and a hairline that recedes at the temples, forming a widow’s peak in the middle of his forehead.

The Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission is offering a reward of $5,000 to $6,000 and the KCK Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 4 is offering $1,000.
