Delta plane has landing gear problem before landing in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A Delta Air Lines flight from Milwaukee to Atlanta landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after the plane experienced a problem with its front landing gear, a spokesperson said of the airline.

An emergency was declared aboard the Boeing 757-200 for priority air traffic control processing during its descent to Atlanta on Thursday.

The flight was full with 199 passengers, four flight attendants and two pilots aboard Delta Flight 1435. Passengers disembarked as usual when the plane arrived at the gate.

A Delta spokesperson released the following statement:

“Delta’s flight crew underwent extensive training to handle an indication of a potential nose landing gear problem, because nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew. The aircraft landed safely and was towed to an arrival gate out of an abundance of caution.

This comes just under three weeks after a Delta Boeing 757-200 declared an emergency due to a “flap mismatch” before landing safely in Atlanta after taking off from Savannah. The problem is the misalignment of the plane’s flaps.
