Governor: Russian oil depot burns after Ukrainian drone attack

An oil depot in Russia’s Rostov region caught fire on Saturday following a Ukrainian drone attack, the region’s governor, Vasily Golubev, said on Telegram.

Both Moscow and Kyiv have used drones throughout the conflict, which began in February 2022, including larger self-detonating aircraft with a range of hundreds of kilometers.

“A fire broke out at an oil refinery in Tsimlyansky district following a drone strike,” Golubev wrote, adding that there were no casualties.

He later said the fire, which was hundreds of kilometers from the front line, had been extinguished.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its armed forces had shot down four Ukrainian drones – two in Rostov, one in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine and another in Kursk further north.
