Midland Police Respond to Fatal Crash on State Highway 191 | West Texas

MIDLAND, Texas — According to Midland police, a 73-year-old man died in a serious accident on State Highway 191 on Friday morning.

On July 12, 2024 at 7:52 a.m., Midland Police responded to the 8700 block of State Highway 191, where emergency responders rescued and attempted life-saving measures on the driver of a 2016 Chevy Cruz, identified as Tommy Earl Palmer. Palmer was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

“After an initial investigation by the Midland Traffic Police, it was determined based on witness statements that Palmer had stopped for an unknown reason on the westbound road in the 8700 block of State Highway 191,” the Midland Police Department stated. “The driver and sole occupant of the Peterbilt cement truck collided his front distributor with the rear distributor of the Chevy Cruz at a high rate of speed.”

Next of kin have been notified and the investigation is ongoing, according to Midland police.
