Warning day for more intense heat on Friday

Weather forecast for Northern California: Warning day for more intense heat on Friday

From Thursday onwards, temperatures will only drop by a few degrees.

WEATHER. WE WANT TO TAKE YOU BACK TO OUR AREA, RANCHO CORDOVA. JUST SO YOU CAN SEE THE SUN IS SHINING. IT’S HOT OUT THERE. WE WANT TO CHECK WITH METEOROLOGIST HEATHER WALDMAN TO CHECK WHAT THE TEMPERATURES ARE LOOKING LIKE. YES, THE SUN IS BRUTAL DOWN IN THE VALLEY AND IN THE FOOTHILLS. BUT ON MICHELLE’S LIVE SHOT UP THERE, IT LOOKED LIKE SHE WAS GETTING A LITTLE BREEZE FROM LAKE TAHOE, A LITTLE LAKE BREEZE, WATER TEMPERATURES AROUND 68°F. THE AIR TEMPERATURE IN TAHOE IS AROUND 86°F. SO THAT’S GIVING IN SOME OF THE NICE COOL AFTERNOON AIR FROM THE WATER. LOOKS LIKE IT’S PRETTY GOOD, RIGHT? IT’S 108 RIGHT NOW AT EXECUTIVE AIRPORT. WE’RE HEATING ALL OVER THE WEST AGAIN, 109 IN FRESNO. IN VEGAS IT’S 115 AGAIN TODAY. THAT WOULD BE THE SIXTH DAY IN A ROW WITH A HIGH OF AT LEAST 115 DEGREES IN DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. YUCK. RIGHT. WELL, HERE’S THE BIG HIGH PRESSURE AREA THAT’S RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE HEAT. IT’S STILL HANGING HERE. IT’S FINISHED OUR DELTA BREEZE FOR TODAY. IT WILL EASEN UP A LITTLE THROUGHOUT THE DAY TOMORROW AND EVEN ON SATURDAY. THAT WILL NOT NECESSARILY ALLOW A DELTA BREEZE TO BRING BACK UP. IT WILL ACTUALLY DEVELOP A LITTLE MORE INTO A SOUTHEAST BREEZE. SOME OF THAT AIR FROM THE DESERTS WILL KEEP THE TEMPERATURE FROM FALLING TOO MUCH. BUT ANOTHER THING WE WILL HAVE TO WATCH AS THIS HIGH WEIGHT CONTINUES TO DISAPPEAR EAST THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND IS WHETHER IT’S ABLE TO PICK UP MOISTURE AND SEND IT OUR DIRECTION. SO HERE’S THE RADAR AND SATELLITE SHOWING MONSOON ACTIVITY IN NEVADA. AND IN THE FOUR CORNERS AS WELL. NO LIGHTNING HAS BEEN DETECTED HERE AT THIS TIME. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS HERE AS THIS HIGH MOVES IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WE’LL SEE A SLIGHT INCREASE IN CLOUDS IN THE SIERRA TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND MAYBE A SHOWER OR TWO COME UP ALONG THE RIDGE SOUTH OF LAKE TAHOE. WE’LL BE WATCHING FOR LIGHTNING STRIKES THAT MAY DEVELOP WITH THESE SHOWERS. DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THEY’RE GOING TO BRING MUCH RAIN. SATURDAY COULD BE ANOTHER MORE ACTIVE DAY WITH A LITTLE HUMIDITY COMING. BUT AGAIN IT LOOKS LIKE MOST OF THE ACTIVITY WILL BE SOUTH OF TAHOE AND ON THE EAST SLOPES OF THE SIERRA. WE WILL KEEP AN EYE ON MONO AND ALPINE COUNTY FOR ANY SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS THAT COME IN, AS AGAIN THEY WOULDN’T LIKELY BRING MUCH RAIN. SO NOW WE’RE GOING TO HAVE LIGHTNING, ESPECIALLY AS WE’VE HAD OVER A WEEK OF TEMPERATURES ABOVE 90 IN THE HIGH SIERRA. THOSE FUELS ARE REALLY STARTING TO DRY OUT NOW. SO IF YOU’RE GOING TO TAHOE THIS WEEKEND AND DOING ANYTHING OUTDOORS, PLEASE BE EXTRA CAUTION. HERE’S A LOOK AT TOMORROW. HOT AGAIN. TEMPERATURES ABOVE 90°F AT LAKE LEVEL. UPPER SECONDS IN POLLOCK PINES AND ARNOLD. In Yosemite Valley, temperatures will be back in the triple digits in the foothills. It will be another very warm night, with temperatures ranging from 25 to nearly 27 degrees at the Placerville airport. In the afternoon, temperatures will be a few degrees lower than today, but still between 39 and 42 degrees. Closer to the coast, we’ll see some changes. Better onshore winds, but still in the triple digits in the East Bay. In Fairfield, temperatures will be around 38 to 40 degrees tomorrow afternoon. In the San Joaquin Valley, it will be another very hot day, starting at just under 25 degrees. IT WILL END TOMORROW AFTERNOON BETWEEN 106 AND 108, AND FOR THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY. GOOD CHANCE OF GETTING CLOSE TO 110 DEGREES BACK IN SOME PARTS OF THE VALLEY. DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO HAS NOT HAD FOUR DAYS OF AT LEAST 110 DEGREES IN A YEAR. TODAY IS NUMBER THREE. TOMORROW IT WILL GET CLOSE TO THAT AND YOU WILL SEE IT STILL BE CLOSE TO 100 DEGREES ON SATURDAY, BUT IT WILL FEEL BETTER
