First Alert weather warning: The combination of heat and humidity makes for an uncomfortable day

The infamous high pressure system that has been influencing our weather since last week is still enjoying its time across the Western United States. Temperatures 10°+ above normal are expected to persist through Thursday.

The seemingly ever-present heat warning remains in effect for the Coachella Valley until Friday evening. A heat warning with temperatures up to 40 °C is still in effect for the Riverside Mountains and the San Bernardino Mountains until Thursday evening.

This morning’s moisture has been slow to dissipate, meaning air temperatures haven’t been able to rise as high as yesterday. However, high temperatures in the teens don’t mix well with moisture.

Wednesday and Thursday will dry out more quickly in the afternoon, with temperatures still potentially reaching record highs for those days. You’ll see numbers drop over the weekend, but we’ll trade in high heat for more monsoon moisture, so there’s a small chance of storms moving in over the mountains and high desert this weekend.
