Elderly couple and dog found dead in San Juan Capistrano home – NBC Los Angeles

Investigators in Orange County continued to investigate a gruesome double murder in San Juan Capistrano on Tuesday.

An elderly couple and a dog were found dead in their San Juan Mobile Estates home after someone called 911 to report a domestic violence incident shortly after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

According to investigators, the suspected killer, a 41-year-old man, was a family member who was later shot several times by an officer.

The community’s neighbors were awakened on Tuesday morning with the terrible news.

“Yes, they are my neighbors,” said Teresa Sokol, who has lived in the neighborhood for 20 years. She said she constantly sees the woman walking her dog.

“They’re just nice people, very nice people. It’s very sad.”

Sokol said she heard nothing unusual that morning, not even the bizarre 911 call after the double murder.

At about the same time, investigators say someone else called to report that a bloodied man was chasing a maintenance worker in the community.

Officers later found the man they suspect in the double murder in a golf cart near a bike path on Calle Arroyo, about a mile away.

Something prompted an officer to shoot the man multiple times.

He was taken to hospital where his condition was listed as serious but stable on Tuesday afternoon.

The investigators have not provided any further information about the relationship between the man and the elderly couple.

The Orange County Coroner’s Office has yet to identify the couple.
