Suspect found dead in armed domestic assault in Augusta, police said

A Maine man accused of threatening his parents with a gun has been found dead, according to police. Augusta police said the body of 40-year-old Justin M. Larrabee was found in the Kennebec River near the base of the Cushnoc Crossing Bridge late Tuesday morning. According to police, the domestic assault between Larrabee, an Augusta resident, and his parents occurred Friday in the area of ​​480 Riverside Drive. Larrabee fled the scene of the domestic assault before police arrived, prompting a curfew, and is believed to have been on the run since Friday, authorities said. Augusta police said they received information around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday about a possible sighting of a body near the base of the Cushnoc Crossing Bridge, which carries Route 3 over the Kennebec River. Officers responding to the call confirmed there was a body in the river at the base of the bridge, and they were able to confirm it was Larrabee. Investigators were able to provide the following information to Larrabee’s family. Augusta police wrote in a news release, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
