Police arrested a 35-year-old male suspect on Saturday after he allegedly robbed a currency exchange office in Teralta West.

The suspect, who was said to be wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun, allegedly demanded money from employees of the American Gold Exchange store, 4109 El Cajon Blvd., shortly after 5 p.m. and demanded that employees hand over cash. Employees complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash, San Diego police said.

The man allegedly fled the store when officers arrived. A short foot chase ensued and officers were able to arrest him.

The suspect was later arrested on suspicion of robbery. A weapon and cash were seized.

Detectives from the San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit arrived at the scene to conduct the investigation.
