Boil Water Advisory Issued for Atlanta, Texas

ATLANTA, Texas (KETK) – A boil water advisory has been issued for residents of the city of Atlanta’s public water system Saturday, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Storms hit the Graphic Packaging paper mill Friday and caused a loss of power, leaving the city without water, according to the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce.

Graphic Packaging now has its power back and is apparently sending water to the city, but it will take time for its tanks to refill, the chamber said.

Since the water system reached pressures below 20 pounds per square inch, a boil water advisory has been issued. Anyone using Atlanta’s public water system is asked to bring water intended for drinking or cleaning to a vigorous rolling boil for at least two minutes before using it.

The chamber added that water is available at the Atlanta, Texas, fire station at 606 South Louise St. Any questions can be directed to Bobby Washington, Atlanta’s public works director, at 903-796-7153.
