Atlanta Braves add outfielder ahead of series against Philadelphia Phillies

The Atlanta Braves announced they are recalling outfielder Eli White, highlighting a series of roster moves ahead of their series with the Philadelphia Phillies.

In simultaneous moves, they sent outfielder Forrest Wall to Triple-A and moved left-hander Ray Kerr to the 60-day injured list.

Given the Braves’ struggles in attack, they’re willing to try something new.

In 53 games with the Gwinnett Stripers, White hit .289 with an .864 OPS, seven home runs and 28 RBIs.

Whites come out of a large-scale performance on July 3, when he had a six-hit game with two home runs and seven RBIs against the St. Paul Saints, accounting for a third of the offensive output in a 21-6 rout.

White has already played in 136 MLB games, including six with the Braves in 2023. In that small sample size with the Braves, he has one hit in 14 at-bats (.071) and has reached base twice via walk.

He earned another chance with his recent production in Gwinnett, and perhaps he could end up being a missing piece to the Braves’ offensive puzzle.

Wall returns to Triple-A after a mediocre performance in 13 games with the Braves. He hit .241 with a 60 OPS+ and no extra-base hits.

Anderson begins his rehabilitation mission

The Braves also announced that infielder Brian Anderson will begin his rehab assignment Friday night in Triple-A.

Anderson has been out since late June with a bacterial infection. He spent most of this season with the Mariners’ Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers before being released and signing with the Braves June 4th.

Anderson had five at-bats with the Braves this season, going without a hit.

The Marlins’ once-promising infielder, who finished fourth in National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2018, has struggled with injuries and batting when healthy the past two seasons.
