Indianapolis man arrested for shooting at motorist in anger

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. – An Indianapolis man was arrested in Hancock County for a reported incident of road rage.

22-year-old Gregory Davis was arrested for allegedly shooting the driver of a semi-trailer truck.

At 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers in Hancock County were dispatched after shots were fired from a moving vehicle at a tractor-trailer on I-70 near the 101 mile marker.

When local police officers learned of the shooting, they went to the scene, saw the vehicle west of Mt. Comfort Road, and stopped it. There was only one occupant and a handgun in the vehicle. Davis was taken into custody.

After further investigation, officers concluded that the shooting was the result of aggressive driving. The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.

According to Indiana State Police, there was damage consistent with bullet holes on the passenger side of the semi. No injuries were reported.

This shooting is the 40th incident of highway shootings in the Indianapolis area in 2024. In 2023, the ISP investigated 55 highway shootings in Indianapolis County.

Davis was taken to the Hancock County Jail. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
