Ticketmaster security incident compromises customer data, authorities say – NBC Chicago

Ticketmaster customers should check their email as the company is contacting certain users to warn them about a security incident in which their personal information may be at risk.

In an email to customers, Ticketmaster said the incident occurred between April 2 and May 18, 2024. In an email to customers, Ticketmaster said:

“…An unauthorized third party obtained information from a cloud database hosted by a third-party data service provider.” It continued: “Since the beginning of our investigation, we have not identified any additional unauthorized activity in the cloud database.”

Ticketmaster says personal information such as customer names, contact details and payment card information may have been compromised. The company says it is working with outside experts as well as federal police.

Ticketmaster says it is taking “a number of technical and administrative steps to further enhance the security of our systems and customer data.”

These measures include rotating passwords for all accounts linked to the affected cloud database, reviewing access permissions, and deploying enhanced alerting mechanisms in the environment.”

These are the most important points to consider if your data is compromised:

  • Ticketmaster says it is offering affected customers free identity verification with Transunion for one year.
  • In addition, customers are advised to monitor their accounts and billing statements.
  • NBC 5 Responds asked Ticketmaster how many customers are affected. They did not answer our question, only saying that affected customers will be notified via email or mail.
  • If you are not contacted, Ticketmaster will assume that your confidential information is not related to the security incident.
