Traffic accident leads to closure of all lanes of the outer loop of I-495

Alert Montgomery issued a severe traffic alert at 9:13 a.m.: “Due to a traffic accident, all lanes are closed on the outer loop of I-495 at Old Georgetown Road (MD-187). Expect significant delays. Seek an alternate route.”

According to Pete Piringer, chief spokesman for the MCFRS, a vehicle fire has been extinguished, but debris remains on the roadway and the roads are slippery.
