Report: Official in Srinagar suspended for ‘sabotage’ of Amarnath Yatra

A local official has been suspended in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on suspicion of “sabotaging” the Amarnath Yatra by staying away from duty, The Hindu reported on June 30, 2024.

In an order signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, Pahalgam-based Naib Tehsildar Ovais Amir was suspended for “leaving the station without permission and sabotaging the ongoing Amarnath Yatra”.

According to the media report, an investigation into the matter has been launched.
