Inmate found dead in Wayne County Jail; Indiana State Police investigating – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

RICHMOND, Ind. (WISH) – An inmate was found dead in the Wayne County Jail early Friday morning, Indiana State Police announced.

The inmate was identified as 36-year-old Andrew Taylor.

According to state police, Taylor was found shortly before 5 a.m. Friday. Jail staff found him unconscious and despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are working with the coroner’s office and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office to determine what led up to the incident. They did not release Taylor’s cause of death but said no foul play is suspected.

Taylor’s family has been notified, police said.
